you apparently haven’t watched some of Fed’s humour, the guy’s got great humour. Besides, he had a jetlag here, he couldn’t give you any of your heavily needed humour.
How is he even in the least bit arrogant? He was full of praise for Federer. You’re saying that a guy who describes himself as the best “bad” tennis player ever is arrogant? Give me a break.
yea it’s 3-21 (i’d say edge to federer but lets be serious, the term “edge” sorta lost meaning roughly 16 matches ago) but what does that have to do with my comment?
not gonna lie, Andy’s actually pretty self-deprecating not self-important. He jokes about himself a lot about how “bad” he is. For a recent example read or lookup, cuz it might be on youtube, his interview on his win over Kubot, he talks really bad about himself there. He comes off as self-important because after a loss his emotions are high and that combined with his natural outspoken-ness and the press and their question-traps, it can seem like he’s self-important.
roddick’s self-important and arrogant but also funny and smart. Roger’s giving the dull straight-man PR interview as usual. He’s got everything he could have asked for, so who cares if he has no sense of humor?
and no, head to head match ups don’t really matter in terms of assessing who is the greatest player ever, also, admittedly, a purely speculative matter, but it’s a discussion that’s fun to have. Like I said though, it isn’t head to head results that measure comprehensive greatness but a player’s record AGAINST THE ENTIRE FIELD OF PLAYERS that matters. I’ve heard the pro-clay arguments, they make sense but so do the others privileging the other surfaces.
@arashbehalbahalify, ah yes, the “weak competition” argument, every player’s ascent can naturally be said to coincide with another player’s decline, it’s a given, simply by virtue of athletic competition, there are winners and losers but none of us can really speak with any veracity regarding the level of competition on tour. Fed’s game obliterated the competition, that much we know purely on the basis of observation but to attribute Fed’s dominance to a weak era is pure speculation.
No it doesn`t. Head to head records mean almost nothing in tennis. It`s natural that best younger players will have winning record against older players. (not just in tennis but in every sport). “also clay is the most important surface”-what the hell is that? Clay is absolutely less important in every possible way!
And just for the facts, Nadal: 20 injuries, Federer: 0, Djokovic: injury at the end of an exausting season. Nadal can’t win efficiently without getting injured, Djokovic is drained at the end of the season, didn’t even care about the world tour finals which is important for stats vs top 8 players of the year, the only player who has been winning successfully like a wind breeze whether we like him or not is Federer.
Just to tell u, Fed had a losing record earlier in his career like 2-7 agains’t hewitt, 0-5 agains’t nalbandian. Plus roddick is a good player, like 4 GS finals and 3 SM all lost to federer, this guy would have gotten 8 grand slams by now haven’t it been for federer. Federer overcame his past rivals, it’s not a weak era, Federer was just too good for his time, then Nadal overcame Federer, and now Djokovic overcame Nadal, someday someone is going to pwned djokovic
ivan lendl kicked everyones ass in his time and samprass beat aggasi all the time. he is not the greatest because he doesn’t have a better record against his rival.no one cares what he has done against other player but it does matter what have you done against great player specially your rival.
